I'm Vilhelmiina, a 22-year-old photojournalism student. I am currently in my fourth year of studies at Tampere University.
Born and raised in Kuopio, Finland, I moved to Tampere and entered university right after high school. I have always loved writing, but am equally fascinated by visual storytelling and the impact of photographs. So when the opportunity arose, I began studying journalistic photography in depth, and have appreciated every step so far.
In the summer of 2022, I returned to my roots for a three-month stint as a news journalist at the regional newspaper Savon Sanomat in Kuopio and took pictures for many of my articles myself. In the fall and winter, I have continued to work for the newspaper as a freelance photographer and culture reviewer.
Between May and August of 2023, I completed my university internship at the Pirkanmaa regional newspaper Aamulehti as a full-time photojournalist and have since done occasional assignments and shifts for the paper, including the memorable last show of the band Popeda. The following summer, I returned to the paper as a summer staff photographer.
At university, I have done photography and visual editing both for the Moreenimedia website as well as the more leisurely students' magazine Gonzo.
In my free time, I like smaller and bigger adventures with people, literature, films and travel. I am eager to get new opportunities to photograph journalistic content and am also open for other kinds of assignments through my trade name. Feel free to contact me!
